February Meat Raffle
02/04 - The menu for the February 12th Meat Raffle will be
chili and hot sausages. The doors open at 6PM and the raffle begins at
7PM. Please join us for a fun evening at CFRS!
Turnpike Tractor Trailer Overturned
02/04 - At 11:53 hours Engine 233, Engine 145, and Rescue 45
were dispatched to the PA Turnpike EB at Exit 226 for a tractor trailer
overturned in the 45-99 box. Units secured fluid leaks and checked for
other hazards before turning the scene over to turnpike authorities.
Company 45 had 6 personnel on scene on 3 personnel on station and went available
at 12:41 hours.
02/02 - On Tuesday morning at 05:20 hours, Engine Co 33,
Rescue 45, and Mini Pumper 45 were dispatched to Interstate 81 in the area of
Exit 52 for an auto accident in the 133-97 box. Company 45 assisted Engine
233 at the scene and went available at 05:54. At 20:18 hours Engine Co 33,
Rescue 45, and Mini Pumper 45 were dispatched to Interstate 81 in the area of
Exit 49 for an auto accident in the 133-97 box. Co 45 staged until placed
in service at 20:28. At 20:33 hours, Engine Companies 41 and 36 along with
Rescue 45 were dispatched to Burnt House Rd. and Walnut Bottom Rd. in the
341-101 box for an auto accident with entrapment. Crews from E141, E136, and
Rescue 45 extricated one patient. At 21:40 hours Engine Co 33,
Rescue 45, and Mini Pumper 45 were dispatched to Interstate 81 SB at Exit 52 for
an auto accident. Public Safety Supervisor A arrived on scene and reported
negative injuries and Chief 7 placed the box available.

Building Fire on North Hanover Street
01/29 - On Friday 1/29 at 11:20 hours Engines 41, 45, and 36
along with Trucks 45 and 39 were dispatched to 32 North Hanover Street in the
41-10 box for a building fire. Cumberland County Communications advised multiple
calls at dispatch. Unfortunately, Truck 45 experienced mechanical problems
and was placed out of service. At 11:24 hours Command 3 requested 2nd alarm
which brought Engines 38, 39, and 25, Truck 36, Rescue and Air 45, and RIT 33 to
the scene. Units operated for about an hour and a half to extinguish and
overhaul. CFRS had 17 personnel on scene and 1 remaining on station. Thanks to Tanker 134, Truck 30, and Rescue 27 for transferring
to Station 45.

Joint Training Session
01/29 - On Thursday evening January 28th, Co's 45 and 39
conducted joint training at Station 45. Thanks to Co. 39 for bringing Engine 239
and Truck 39 to our station for apparatus familiarization and an evening of
learning!
Busy Day at Station 45
01/25 - Monday was a very busy day at Station 45. The calls
included:
04:55 - Engine 145, Truck 45, and Rescue 45 were dispatched
to 4 Cave Hill Drive in the 39-59 box for an automatic fire alarm. Units were
available at 05:11.
09:43 - Air 45 was dispatched to 32 Center Street in the
36-01 box for the mobile home fire. Air 45 filled cylinders and went available
at 10:55.
17:42 - Air 45 was dispatched to 141 Old Gap Rd. in the
39-102 box for flooding. Air 45 mitigated the flooding condition and went
available at 18:29.
18:01 - Truck 45 was dispatched to 434 North West Street in
the 45-01 box for a man trapped on a roof . Truck 45 retrieved the man and went
available at 18:30.
18:57 - Rescue 45 was dispatched to 819 Rt. 15 North in the
York 64-115 box as RIT for the building fire. The fire was knocked down
quickly and Rescue 45 was placed in service at 19:10.
Training Exercises
01/24 - Co's 45, 47, and 48 were invited to attend a training
exercise hosted by Co 46 on Sunday January 24th. Thanks to Denny L. Clopper for

Fatal Accident on Interstate 81
01/21 - At approximately 13:42 hours Engine Co. 33, Rescue
45, and MP45 were dispatched to Interstate 81 NB in the area of Exit 52 for an
auto accident with entrapment. Unfortunately, this incident resulted in a

01/21 - Many CFRS members have been working hard over the
past few days to revamp the CFRS museum. The largest and most noticeable
additions were the 3 paintings of Good Will Fire co. engines. Not seen in
the picture below is an Ahrens Fox hanging just left of the shot. The
paintings seen below are a Seagrave on the left and a Mack on the right.
The 4 photos in the center are shots of the Cumberland Fire Co. at 121 E.
Louther Street, the Good Will Fire Co. at 161 West Pomfret St., Empire Hook and
Ladder at 38 West Pomfret St., and the Friendship Fire Co. at 636 North West St.
all in the mid 1950's. Please give us a few more weeks to complete the
renovations, then stop in and enjoy the history of Carlisle Fire & Rescue
Services!
February Driver Schedule
01/21 - The driver availability sheet has been posted for
February of 2010. The sheet has been changed in that all months will now appear
in the same Microsoft Excel workbook. Therefore, to find the shifts available in
February you must click on the Feb 2010 tab at the bottom of the window.
Auto Accident with 1 Overturned in the Borough
01/18 - At 13:56 hours Engines 141, 145, and Rescue 45 were
dispatched to the 300 block of South Hanover Street in the 41-04 box for an auto
accident with a vehicle overturned. Co 45 responded with 13 personnel.

01/18 - At 11:03 hours Engine 141 and Rescue 45 were
dispatched to E High Street and Spring Garden St. for an auto accident in the
41-05 box. R45 with 7 performed a door pop and assisted Co 41 with

01/13 - Congratulation to Lt. John Von Lumm and his lovely
wife Robyn on the birth of their daughter Hailey Elizabeth Von Lumm at 04:05
this morning. Hailey is 10lbs 12 oz, 20 in., and everyone is doing well.

Officer Appointments
01/12- Congratulations to Capt. Ben Thumma, Lt. John Von Lumm,
and Lt. Skip Bernheimer on being appointed at the January 12th CFRS meeting.
Unit Designation Changes
01/06 - Cumberland County Communications has completed the
changeover of Co. 40 apparatus to Co. 45 designations effective today. Please
make sure to use Engine 145 when referring to the former Engine 45 and Engine
245 when referring to the former Engine 40. All other units are self
explanatory. While the designations have changed, the boxes have not. Responses
may seem a bit strange for another week or two while changes are implemented. If
you have any questions or concerns, please see a Chief Officer.
